It’s hard to believe that just a week ago (10/12-10/21) on this very day marked the 7th day of our traveling through South America, taking walks on the beach, sitting on the sugar like sand while taking in the waves of the ocean that stretches as far and wide as the eyes can see.
All of this relaxation after an unexpected adventurous day of rock climbing in “The Jungle” of Brazil in my dress (See pictures below) to behold the beauty of that glorious waterfall and most definitely to say we conquered the challenges to get there!
Our week long and daily adventures are shared below primarily through photos and we hope you enjoy a glimpse into our week-long journey of traveling through another hemisphere and season of discovery.
Thanks to the exhilarating work we do with foreign exchange students and CETUSA our eyes have opened to a whole new way of living fearlessly while encouraging our students and those who know us personally to do the same. May these daring days compel you to go on your own God-ordained adventure soon.
Here’s to living your best life through pictures!
We started out on our journey in Miami to Peru to Brazil
Then, there was our 1st full day of adventure in Rio de Janeiro including our cable train ride and 110 step to one of the seven wonders of the world “Christ the Redeemer” a symbol of Brazilian Christianity and the most celebrated and highlighted monuments and attractions in all of Brazil. It’s a wonder to see that you can’t go anywhere in this beautiful city and country without seeing the outstretched arms of Jesus watching over as a symbolic protector of people and being celebrated by locals and tourists alike. It was also interesting to find out that the statue we were to behold is the largest Art Deco-style sculpture in the world. It is quite humbling to know we were blessed with the opportunity to witness all of this beauty up close as we hope you will enjoy below.
Then, there was our tour adventure at the H D Stern Jewel factory provided complimentary from our hotel and then further explorations in the botanical garden (Jardin Botânico) where we had such a blast with our fun new radiant friends! Take in the beauty below:
Then, there was the adventuress did not know we would be going on after our Sugarloaf mountain top experience. We would go rock climbing in “The Jungle” and as you can see I was not prepared for it, my #LuLaRoeJoy and Julia made it out unscathed and still clean after the muddy, rock climbing adventure, to say we were all surprised is to say the least. Here are few memories captured ok this exciting journey up and down.
Yes, yes, yes, we did it! We certainly got our work out on this 2nd to last day of being in Brazil. We decided (Or should I say my husband decided we should) rest on the official last full day here in the amazing Rio de Janeiro. See the relaxation activities below, from laying on the beach and listening to the waves to sitting on the rooftop over-looking the ocean and listening to some beloved cultural music.
Our last night in Brazil, we were blessed with a splendid farewell dinner courtesy of CETUSA.
On our returning flight to Bogota, Columbia, the original plan was to be in service at one of our church family home churches and then to enjoy a tour of this splendid city, God had other plans. So we simply made the best of not having our yellow fever shots that was required to enter Columbia from Brazil and just enjoyed some local meals and coffee till next time South America.
Next time, we look forward to returning upon invitation to minister The Word of truth flowing from our hearts and this original song written by yours truly translated in Spanish:
With lots of love, joy, hope and radiant purpose always,
