You sit down in your living room, craft room or your quiet place of comfort, pull your art supplies towards you (if you’re like me, you have a scrapbook rolling tote that looks as large as a suitcase for your creative needs on the go! ).
You sit with a sigh of relief, open your Bible and ahhh…Behold the beauty. The Word itself is filled with such beauty, but as a Bible Journaler you have a special opportunity to bring the words in your Bible pages to life with color, illustration and/or lettering. Perhaps, you are perfecting your lettering and techniques for your craft and quality time with Jesus in His word. You know His word will not return void and you can rely on what He says is true. It is a sweet comfort to spend time in His presence and create something beautiful, something memorable from your moments with Him.
It has only been a few months since I first discovered this phenomenon and realized it is perfect for me. As a creative, always thinking with a sincere desire to have the Word of the Lord imprinted on my heart in a fun, engaging way! This, I’ve found has helped me tremendously in looking forward to opening my Bible. I am not the school girl anymore who carried around my Bible for First Priority (Before P7 Bible clubs were around) for early morning Bible studies and for leading lunch time prayer meetings. However, I get excited and see it a priority to have my Bible near at hand today for many other reasons.
If I’ve learned anything, these past three months, it is that there are a wealth of ladies and girls who have found pure joy in engaging with the Word on a deeper level. We set aside more structured time to meditate, to dissect The Word and prepare the precious pages of our Bibles and thoughts in order to effectively share our faith and encourage other ladies on this similar journey. I have never seen so many creatives in all my life! Some may not have known what gift they possesed until they decided to join in on the phenomenon. I was first introduced to Bible journaling thanks to a sister of mine who tagged me on IG for a Bible journaling kit she was interested in. I immediately learned for the first time that she is definitely a creative, even though her role as music minister, singer and piano player should have been a giveaway! Since then, I have watched countless videos, created only one so far from my Persicope videos with hopes to create more and engage with more radical Jesus believers and illustrators from the Bible Journaling Community. If you are interested in seeing all the work collected so far and some noteworthy Bible Journal connoisseurs, just look up the following hashtags on Instagram:

Also, there is a new group formed to celebrate Bible Journal Art on Facebook with hopes that some of these beautiful illustration of faith and the Word can also be shared on that medium from the Bible Journaling community, which is you! If you journal in your Bible, wish to do so and want to share tools and tips to begin then it’s a great place to build community dedicated to Bible Journal Art.
Most recently, I acquired my Raskog utility cart! Another great resource to organize and keep your crafty corner prepared for easy access to tools you may need when Bible Journaling. Check out this and all the other fun ways to interact with the Word live tonight on my periscope.
